Child Annoyance Case at Various Locations Through South San Francisco

South San Francisco, CA    August 28, 2015   Submitted by SSFPD SSFPD logo color

On Thursday, August 27, 2015 between 3:30 and 5:30 PM, San Francisco resident Frederick Cayabyab approached several female juveniles in South San Francisco and attempted to lure them into his vehicle. He also approached additional victims on school campuses and tried to lure them into   restrooms. All of the juveniles were able to safely get away from Cayabyab and report the incidents to either school officials or their parents.

South San Francisco Police received a break in the case when an alert Assistant Principal spotted Cayabyab, who seemed out of place on school grounds, and confronted him. Cayabyab fled the school grounds in a vehicle and the Assistant Principal was able to obtain the license plate number on the vehicle.

Police followed up on the license plate number, which led them to Cayabyab’s home in San Francisco, where he was located and arrested. Police determined Cayabyab was responsible for all of the reported incidents on August 27, 2015. The investigation is continuing to determine if Cayabyab is responsible   for a similar incident on August 17, 2015 near Grand and Orange Avenues. Cayabyab was placed under arrest for four felony and six misdemeanor charges related to child annoyance and was booked at the Redwood City jail on $200,000.00 bail.

Please contact the South San Francisco Police Department at 650-877-8900 if you have any information regarding these incidents.
