On the evening of Saturday April 13 Mika Sasaki reported to Everything South City’ Facebook Page of a car crash up on Hickey Blvd and said it was so loud they were afraid to go outside to look, fearing the passengers may not have survived. Police reports stated this appeared to be a DUI accident occurring at Hilton Avenue and Hickey Blvd with the vehicle crashing into the guardrail. The report does not indicate there was an arrest made.
South City’s up and coming Chef Ava Marie Romero was walking along this same stretch of roadway and came across the guardrail and warned other pedestrians. Frank Poncherello, a concerned father shared, “I walk that way a couple of times a week with my daughter in her stroller.” Iris Jara also agreed, “That is scary, I walk through that area all the time.” Brian Lopiccolo heard the crash as did Melisa Haro-Lopiccolo, “We heard the crash when it happened, it was super loud. Thanks for the police report update.”
Lesley Cassandra shares a sad memory, “That area is dangerous. My friend in high school was killed there while riding his scooter.” A good reminder for us all as we share the roadway with vehicles, pedestrians, bikes and scooters.
