Downtown Station Area Plan Workshop September 17 at MSB

South San Francisco, CA September 12, 2013

Downtown South San Francisco is a unique place in our community with many positive attributes, as well as some opportunities for revitalization.  The planning process is underway for the Downtown Station Area Plan which will result in a Specific Plan that will guide future development in areas of downtown and within a half mile radius from the Caltrain station. Key elements include: revitalization for downtown, moderate intensification of uses, pedestrian and bicycle improvements, and improved connectivity to the Caltrain station and to areas east of 101.

The community meeting will focus on Grand Avenue design ideas, downtown programs and events, pedestrian and bicycle improvements, housing, employment, and land uses. After a brief presentation, attendees will engage in small working groups with other community members to share ideas and provide valuable input for the plan.  We strongly encourage residents, business owners and other interested parties to participate in this important discussion about the future of downtown. To learn more about the plan, please visit the project website: www.ssfdowntownplan.org

I couldn’t attend due to attending school. But would really like to see an annual street fair/car show happen again. I know this was shut down years ago but I think we could re-visit this idea to brig more people in to see what the city really offers and support the local businesses. I am willing to volunteer and know others who also would like to invest their time into our city. Not only does it bring money but the over-all exposure to the city is what the downtown needs to survive . Lots of local companies actually provide volunteers as well.

I just hope that they figure out a solution for residents already living in the downtown area. Parking is already bad as is! Maybe they should consider residential parking stickers…? There is enough public parking lots. No need to make us residents park 5-6 blocks away from our homes.

so happy to hear this, I THINK THE DOWNTOWN AREA COULD BE MADE INTO A CHARMING SHOPPING AREA . They should take a look at some of the gold country towns for ideas, jamestown, sonora murphys ,
