local music & art show 23 clubWe found some pretty cool happenings over in Brisbane at the 23 Club last month when some of our local musicians were playing for this monthly event; 23 Club Art and Music Showcase  This event is slated for the last Wednesday of the month which includes tomorrow evening and November 27th.  Music promoter Dennis Cummings has pulled together some great talent and has added local artists to this weeknight event. Cummings is also responsible for the great music line ups at the 7 Mile House as well as a few other well known happening places in the area.

We were very impressed with a new and upcoming artist, Elena Clother, who will also be showing her paintings tomorrow evening. Clother grew up, attended school (elementary & junior high) and has lived in Brisbane forever.  She attended high school in Pacifica where she took a few art classes and upon graduating went onto  Skyline College. “My turning point was the painting classes at Skyline Junior College. That is when I  truly fell in love with painting” Clother exclaimed.

Starting with a new sketch, Elena continues to create magic

“I’m from a big family (12 brothers & sisters total) I have two daughters that attend school at Brisbane Elementary. I’m not currently a part of any clubs (don’t really have time for them with work/school/soccer/art lol)”  Clother continued,  “I’m a self-taught artist and have been drawing since I could pick up a pencil. Outside of the few art classes in high school and college, I pretty much  continue to teach myself new techniques everyday through trial and error.” What is your muse, we asked her.  ” My art is inspired and influenced by nature, emotion, beauty and whimsy. My  biggest goal is to share my art with everyone and anyone I know, I love my customers and love to see them happy with one of my pieces  – it’s so rewarding and encouraging for me!”

We highly recommend a midweek excursion over to Brisbane to help get over that hump day and reinvigorate yourselves with some great music and impressive art. Admission is free and parking is plenty.
