A Holiday Story

Another Holiday  Story from an ESC friend who has had a tough year with cancer, job lay offs, and more…..

“I have a very nice story to tell. I drive a 2000 Chevy with 118,000 miles on it. Cannot afford another car so I get this one fixed when there is something wrong with it. I really got screwed by Firestone so I decided to start taking my car back to ** Chevrolet, a dealership. My sister harassed me a little about paying too much but I don’t believe they try to upsell like some of these other places who will also outright lie to you.

So I took the car in because I had a coolant leak and I wanted to know why I needed more power steering fluid – it was almost empty. They called me later and told me I needed a new radiator and a new steering gear – total would be about $750 for the radiator and $1500 for the steering gear. After I snivelled for a little bit he told me that the I could get by without the steering gear replacement because it was a small leak and I could just keep adding fluid. Great. So we maxed out our credit cards (the only 2 we have) to pay for the radiator.

A day or so later I got an email from them asking me to complete a survey. I did that. I started to complain about my horrible year and no money and blah blah and ended by saying that they always do a great job and I really liked taking my car there and Merry Christmas.

Today I got a call from Dave, the head guy in the Service Dept., who is sending me back my $750 for the job they just did and when I need the steering gear done they will only charge me half price. I’m floored by their kindness. I may even have to take them some homemade cookies and breads before Christmas.”
