Due to the numerous comments we have received regarding the changes in the SamTrans schedule, especially lines 130, 132 & 133, we are sharing the agenda for this evening’s meeting. For more information shared on Everything South City please click HERE. We will continue to share information as it becomes available as we see a need to help with the outreach so more neighbors can know what changes may or may not happen. South City resident Sonny Koya, a committee member, has spoken out about the concerns over the loss of lines 130 & 132 and his comments are part of the December minutes which are included below.
Liliana Morales posted on our Facebook page, ” I emailed Mayor Matsomoto. She forwarded my email to Samtrans. All Samtrans said was that “These changes were made as a result of 2 yrs of planning (analyzing ridership, the routine for each bus, comments from customers, community members and stakeholders). If changes were not made then Samtrans would be spending more than what they were making” If anyone else wants to email the person from Samtrans her email is haskinr@samtrans.com. A friend of mine called Samtrans and they told her to have people call and complain and see if Samtrans have enough complaints then they might bring back some routes.”
Other comments include:
*Sharon Kay Gustilo Meyer Dont forget the 132 that will no longer be running. How are the elderly on Hillside supposed to get around?
*Kody Staubitz I have been complaining to Samtrans for years, They don’t run late enough and don’t run often enough and I hate that they don’t offer transfers. Their routes are much to long; it really shouldn’t take 2 + hrs to get from daly city to ssf/SB. Bottomline Samtrans may seem nice but they actually are quite a crappy service provider. So glad to live in SF now my transportation cost have gone down 75%!
*Crystal WolfLady Colma is thinking that if SoCity wants to do, a shuttle from Colma BART to SSF BART but still issues on getting to old town in SSF. Remember Sam Tans gets Federal funding. If they aren’t serving us, they should not receive funding! Complain to Mayor Karyl.Matsumoto@ssf.net. They have taken the 133 bus away from me too. So. SF should kick out Sam trans and make their own shuttle bus service. With meetings that everyone can get too. Sam Trans told me “not enough people rode” I guess they mean non-handicap b/c its based on $$ which should NOT be the case! The count where people get on and not off? Duh?
*Mary Sullivan-Almada They have taken away service that takes me to and from HOME! Don’t drive and this is NOT good. Lack of ridership?? the #130 is a vital bus route, and likewise the #133 shortening service and discontinuing funny, NEVER empty when I take ( or took) it!!
Frank Poncherello Everyone suggesting SSF have its own shuttle is missing the point. The whole reason we have SamTrans is that prior to 1975, Daly City, South San Francisco, San Mateo, Redwood City, etc., had their own bus lines. They got you around the City you caught it, but nowhere else. People clamored for a regional solution to connect better and combine administration to save money — but they didn’t give it a dedicated funding mechanism. Better to pool money with neighboring cities and actually have a product that takes you someplace.
I don’t know if a shuttle today would be better. In the past 10 years, we’ve seen Burlingame, San Carlos, Foster City have shuttles start, then shut down because there’s no funding.
I can’t speak for everyone, but it (the SamTrans Community Mtgs) was well-promoted on this Facebook page

Since also had some talk about using shuttles and we are sharing this information from the SAMTRANS website as well:
Shuttles
The San Mateo County Transit District offers free BART shuttles and free community shuttles. BART shuttles connect rail stations with major employment sites.
The transit district funds the shuttles with assistance from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and participating employers. The San Mateo County Transportation Authority provides some funding for the Bayshore Brisbane community shuttle.

There is a petition to restore service to route 130, please sign it if you feel the support. You may find it at http://www.tinyurl.com/route130. And FYI, I die a little inside every time I hear Mayor Matsumuto talk about starting a shuttle. If South San Francisco has money for a shuttle, then they should send that money over to Samtrans and off-set the cost of the 130. And remember, Matsumuto is a member of the Samtrans’ Board of Directors who approved these changes!
