Yesterday was World Cancer Day so we held a contest within a contest to help spread awareness, especially about childhood cancers.  In our current GAME ON contest we have invited folks to send us photos of SEE’S Candies or of the decorations at SEE’S.  However, in honor of World Cancer Day we expanded this contest and asked folks to send us any photo that had to do with Valentines. For entries received on this day only we would donate $10 per photo to the Juliana’s Journey Foundation special fundraising efforts at GO FUND ME for the clinical trials up at UCSF. More information HERE and you can also make a donation to this very worthy cause.

We received many comments on our facebook page about those who have battled cancer and our hearts go out to all. Here is a post we shared:

There is not a single one of us that has not been touched by cancer in some way. Many are battling for their lives today, many have found another life in remission, yet others sadly are taken away with angel wings.

Our heart goes out as we receive this post just now:

My Forever Valentine friend lost her fight with cancer on December 21st, 2013 (Breast cancer). She was only 35 years old and left behind 2 young boys. She will forever be in my heart, thoughts, and prayers. -Jorge Junior

Everything South City will be forming a team for Relay For Life of South San Francisco and we will walk for each and everyone who contacts us. Consider walking with us at Orange Park during this 24 hour walk-a-thon. More info will be share this upcoming week.

In the meanwhile, go be good to each other.
Life is precious. Don’t waste it.

We have capped our donations at $300 to Juliana’s Journey to help in the fundraising for clinical trials to be done up at UCSF.

We will be sharing more information on the SSF Relay for Life and how you can join this amazing experience and fundraising event. Everything South City will once again be forming a team this year. Please let us know if you are interested in joining our team or would like to start a team of your own. This 24 hour walk-a-thon will take place at Orange Memorial Park this year.

Below are the photos we have received to date. As noted, you will see some that do not include our SEE’S Candy theme and have been accepted for that short time in honor of WORLD CANCER DAY and Juliana Pena. Please let us know if your submitted photo is not included below.

See's Candy Employees Around late 1980's Photo: Tracy

See’s Candy Employees
Around late 1980’s

I can't remember exactly how old I was but it was around elementary school aged. See's had a giveaway of these little motorcycles with a sidecar. My grandfather woke me up extremely early to wait inline to get one. We ate at McDonald's before braving the cold weather. I had some orange that didnt sit well with my stomach and as we were waiting in line it all came back up. A woman from See's brought some paper towels out the cover the sidewalk and while I uncontrollably cried, my grandpa patted me on the back and let me know I was going to be okay. We had originally agreed to keep the motorcycles in the box but to make me feel better, he let me open mine up to play with. At the time it didnt mean much to me but looking back that was a real special moment I shared with my grandpa and think about it everytime I drive by See's. Submitted by Ashley Hope
