South San Francisco Senior Health Fair a huge success
Hundreds of seniors taking charge of their health
Friday, March 21st was a beautiful day in South San Francisco as a record number of senior citizens attended the 17th annual Senior Health Fair. Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco has been an active participant and sponsor over the years.
“It is always a pleasure every year to partner with the city of South San Francisco to plan the annual senior health fair,” said Sheila Fusaro, Assistant Medical Group Administrator at Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco. “I feel it is mutually satisfying for our staff and the city to support this event as it strengthens our community and makes an important difference in the lives of our senior citizens.”
Close to 600 seniors who attended the health fair were given tips and health education information to better care for themselves. Among the services provided were blood pressure screenings, hearing, glaucoma and cholesterol tests plus information on skin care, nutrition, physical therapy and medication tips from Kaiser Permanente pharmacists on hand. In addition, in this year of health care reform information to help seniors better understand their option was also provided.
South San Francisco Mayor Karyl Matsumoto moved through the crowd to talk with many of the seniors attending the event.
