Hello SSF! My name is Laurie Gracia-Alikhan. I have taught English and Social Studies at Alta Loma for the past seven years and have run the English Language Development Department.
This year, I was fortunate enough to work with the district to create a Newcomer Pathway program for all middle school students in our school district who are new to the country. These thirty or so students are faced with the challenge of learning English while they attempt to master rigorous academia. This month, I was nominated to win a $2500 grant from the Thank a Million Teachers program.
I would love to win this money for my students! I plan to purchase electronic translators to help them with their studies. By voting for me daily throughout the month of May, you can help this become a reality.
All you have to do is go to this LINK HERE, search 94080, and my name will pop up at the very bottom of the page. Enter a valid email address and clarify you are over 18. (You will not be contacted or sent SPAM.) Then enter the code provided and click VOTE! You can also read my proposal on the site.
Thank you in advance! Laurie Gracia-Alikhan and the students of ALMS
