Memorial Day has seen more activities in the past few years and attendance at the Orange Memorial Park ceremony has continued to increase. This year there was nearly 200 folks in attendance. The procession start from Fire Station 61 on Canal and followed Orange Avenue to the Eternal Flame at Orange Memorial Park. Neighbors lined the streets and waved flags as the parade went by. This year’s parade include the South San Francisco High School Marching Band, the Warriors Pride of South City. A video has been produced by Franklin Chun of the procession and can be viewed on YouTube HERE.

Mayor Matsumoto, City Councilmembers, SSF Police and Fire personnel along with Public Safety Chief Massoni, Department heads and staff, Scouts and families of soldiers, were all in attendance along with neighbors and friends. The South San Francisco Community Emergency Response Team also participated and helped with traffic control and logistics. The event was sponsored by the City of South San Francisco and coordinated by the Fire Department. Special thanks and recognition go to Tina Ronzani from SSFFD Admin who works tirelessly behind the scenes at many of these events.

So City Girl Scout Troop 30012 is joining other scouts this morning to post flag at each grave site in Golden Gate Cemetery this morning. They perform this service every year. It is a wonderful way to observe Memorial Day Weekend.
