Many have asked how did Ellison get this trimarian from the bay into the pond/ lagoon outside of the Oracle Buildings in Redwood City. Thanks to ORACLE TEAM USA for sharing this process on video HERE and in these photos.
From ORACLE TEAM USA:
USA-17, winner of the 33rd America’s Cup, finds a home at Oracle headquarters in Redwood Shores, California this weekend. Check out photos from the move — certainly no small task. We now have video of moving the trimaran used by ORACLE TEAM USA to win the 33rd America’s Cup on February 14, 2010, in Valencia, Spain, to Oracle headquarters. The boat, known as “USA-17,” was moved on Saturday morning from the team base at Pier 80 in San Francisco to Redwood Shores, Calif.
The move required the giant trimaran to be towed down to the wetlands outside of Foster City, before it was lifted by helicopter and transported to its new showcase location outside of Oracle’s customer visit center. It’s pretty amazing to see the process unfold. (on the video HERE)
