Spring is in the air, the sweet smell of freshly mowed lawn and the sound of the bat hitting the ball as youngsters scream out in excitement. The challenges the game puts before a kid, the sportsmanship, following rules, learning the consequences for their actions, the camaraderie of working hard with kids from different backgrounds, all such valuable experiences that last a life time.
We have 10 local kids working to raise funds for the All World Baseball 10U tournament in Reno coming up in July. These boys will be representing our city as well as the schools some of them attend (Monte Verde, Buri Buri, Martin & All Souls)) Below is from their fundraising site which can be accessed HERE. Our baseball travel ball team “Twin City Flames” is trying to fundraise to send our team of 10 baseball players to compete in the All World Baseball 10U tournament in Reno, NV on July 16-21, 2014.
The average cost per player to attend this event is around $1,000. The cost includes transportation, lodging, food and cost of the tournament. As you can imagine, this is a significant cost for each family, but an amazing opportunity for our boys to have.
Our boys are passionate about playing baseball and play year-around. The team has been together for over two years and have won 4 championships. Playing together keeps our boys focused, strong and dedicated. Our boys have been fundraising to off-set the tournament costs, and have tirelessly sold tickets, chocolates, beef jerky and bingo games, but we’ve reached a point where we have maxed out our normal family and friends pool for financial support and thought we could reach many more by fundraising through this site.
Please note that funds collected on this website will be divided equally among the 10 families to offset each family’s individual cost. However, if you would like to specifically donate to a team player, please note the player’s name in the comment area of your donation. Any donations received without a specific name will be credited to the total cost for all families.
The funds raised will go to pay for the following expenses.
1.Transportation (rental of a 15 passager van for the players and families)
2. Gas expense from San Francisco, CA to Reno, NV
3. Lodging at hotel for 5 nights-each player gets an individual room to stay in with their family.
4. Tournament playing fee for the team of $695
5. Meals (3 per day for player and parents) for 5 days.
6. New summer uniforms (it’s going to be really hot so our players cannot wear their normal uniform).
7. Baseball tournament bag (all travel ball teams have one).
