On 5/14/2014 at approximately 11:30 p.m., South San Francisco Police Officers responded to the 700 block of Miller Avenue, on the report of a non-injury vehicle collision. Officers found Thomas Velasquez at the scene of the collision. During an investigation, Velasquez admitted he had been drinking alcoholic beverages in San Francisco and that he was responsible for colliding with one parked vehicle. Velasquez was examined by officers at the scene of the collision was determined to have been driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages. Officers subsequently placed Velasque under arrest for a violation of 23152(a) eve.
Drivers are reminded that alcohol can significantly alter a driver’s ability to function while behind the wheel and the South San Francisco Police Department has numerous officers that are specially trained in recognizing symptoms exhibited by persons using alcohol or drugs (especially while operating motor vehicles). If you drink, use drugs, and drive while under the influence of either, you will likely be arrested, incarcerated, and face significant fines and driver license suspensions.
