On August 4, 2014 at about 12:55pm, a 75-year-old Colma resident was in the area of the 1600 block of EI Camino Real in South San Francisco when he was approached by a suspect described as50-60yearsold,light-skinned African American male.The suspect told the victim that he was going back to Africa, but had $90,000 with him that he could not take back to Africa. He requested the victim’s assistance in donating the money to a near by church.The suspect was later joined by another male suspect described to be similar to that of the first suspect. The suspects convinced the victim to withdraw
$1,500.00 from his account at a bank in Daly City as a sign of “good faith” in exchange for the $90,000. Once they exchanged “bundles” of covered money, the victim dropped the suspects off in the area of the l00 block of San Pedro Road in Colma. Upon returning home, the victim uncovered the “bundle” of money to discover it only contained cutup newspapers.
