The 27th Annual Seniors on the Move Conference is one of the largest gathering of seniors in the Bay Area, hosted. Tuesday, October 28th by U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Speier and San Mateo County Supervisor Adrienne J. Tissier.
The featured speaker was Dr. John Chuck, a Family Medicine practitioner with Kaiser Permanente Davis. Dr. Chuck talked to the group of more than 500 seniors about finishing strong with suggestions for thriving in their golden years. He invited the audience to live well now and leave an enduring legacy for generations to come.
The event, founded by Congresswoman Speier who partnered with Supervisor Tissier, is an opportunity to give seniors a venue to connect with their peers, listen to inspiring speakers and learn about effort in Sacramento and Washington that are impacting their lives.
This is the second year that the event was held at the San Mateo County Fairgrounds in order that seniors from throughout the county could have easier access. A big plus at the annual event is bringing together organizations and services to connect with the seniors.
As part of Kaiser Permanente’s Community Benefit program, the Healthcare provider, once again, sponsored a farmers market which provided free local fresh produce to all the seniors in attendance.
Kaiser Permanente has been partnering with San Mateo Coastside farmers and the Coastside Farmers’ Market to bring the “eat fresh and healthy” message to the senior since 2010 said Stephan Wahl, Community Health and Benefit Manager for Kaiser Permanente San Mateo Area. ” We want to promote eating fresh and healthy in to their golden years”.
