“Neighbors helping neighbors” says Aly Chan as she sends us this photo while filling up sandbags. Remember the time to do this is BEFORE the storm which is expected by tomorrow evening and promises to be a real good one. Batten down the hatches and as Andrea Carey reminds us ‘Secure your holiday decorations!’
The Department of Public Works Corp Yard 550 N Canal (between Orange & Spruce) has a self serve set up: Sand, bags & shovels are available but due to the overwhelming requests there are no pre-made bags. Please limit to 10 bags per property. If you have more questions please contact our Dept of Public Works at (650) 877-8550 between 8am – 4:30pm
Hello, we lived in the flood zone in South SF, the Old South City neighborhood at Armour Ave. We have a back yard that need sandbags, I saw the old news for Dec 2014 for sandbags in 550 N. Canal (between Orange/Spruce), is this info still current in November 24, 2015? Please let us know so we can get some sandbags before the storm arrived. Thanks.
Kitty,
Yes, the City has sandbags at the Corp Yard at 550N and they are FREE for South City residents. To be sure there is enough for everyone the Dept of Public Works request neighbors limit to 10 per house. If you have more questions or need more info please contact the DPW directly at Ph: (650) 877-8550.
Thank you.
