We were really disappointed to hear the ‘little green men’ were missing from the front of Bill Grossman’s School of Kenpo Karate on Hazelwood recently. Brentwood neighbor Karen McEvoy alerted us to this disappearance knowing the crosswalk at that location can be tough to navigate, both for pedestrians and for drivers. The little green men protected the crosswalk allowing people to be seen and safely cross.
Everything South City did put an APB (all persons beware!), and even a reward for the safe return of our neighborhood little green men, but alas, no clues. While a few of us were busy taking up a collection, our own South San Francisco Police Officers Association saw our plea and jumped to the rescue.
While perhaps Detective Dave Pinell’s training didn’t include how to find little green men, however he and Officer Bill Gablin delighted everyone when they showed up with two new replacements.
Bill Grossman’s School of Kenpo Karate says “A HUGE thank you, to the South San Francisco Police Department – Police Association for replacing our “Green Men” that were taken 2 weeks ago. You cannot believe how thrilled I was to pull up in front of the dojo and see the crosswalk being protected for the little ones and ALL who cross at the crosswalk. Also, a special thank you to Everything South City for your concern and getting the word out. You do a great service for the community.”
The neighborhood now welcomes these two little orange guys and we know they will continue to help those who live and shop in the Brentwood area. Thank you to Bill Grossman’s School of Kenpo Karate for the original idea and their commitment to our city’s safety. For more information about the Kenpo Karate Dojo and classes CLICK HERE.
