“SEASON OF GIVING”
As you know, during the holiday season there are some parents unable to provide presents for their children. Historically, our Fire Department, in partnership with local schools, businesses and other donors have accepted gifts for the less fortunate children from the community. The children we help provide the gifts for range in age from 0-17 years of age.
This year we are partnering with Westborough Middle School Band and Chorus teacher Mr. Crowell. He is putting on a Christmas performance with the school choir, advanced band and his professional band that he performs with, CHOPS. The date for the event is Saturday, December 13 from 1pm to 3pm at Westborough Middle School. The South San Francisco Professional Fire Fighters Association is partnering with Westborough Middle School in this toy drive. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to this event and enjoy not only a great afternoon of music, but experience the true meaning of Christmas by giving to those less fortunate. Snacks and light refreshments will be available.
Currently, there are more than 1,700 needy children residing within the City of South San Francisco or attend schools in the South San Francisco Unified School District. To help meet the needs of these children, we are asking you to consider donating a gift. Toy donations are being accepted at all five South San Francisco fire stations, Fire Administration, the City Clerk’s office and local businesses and on December 15, Firefighters will pick up toys that have been collected from these locations. Then on December 17 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m at Fire Station 61 (located at 480 North Canal), Firefighters along with community volunteers, will put together, sort and bag the toys to be delivered the next day.
