Terrell Townsend, a senior football player at South San Francisco High School, has been named to the 2014 San Jose Mercury News defensive first team. He is the only San Mateo County public school football star so honored by the newspaper. A defensive end, he is 6-4 in height and weighs 240 pounds. He has committed to play for San Jose State University in 2015. A rival Peninsula Athletic League football coach described Townsend as being “impossible to handle with just one blocker.” He added, “It took at least two to deal with him.” Townsend was the PAL Ocean Division’s Defensive Player of the Year this past season.
