Owners of South City Grocery Outlet, Michelle and David, share 33 years of marriage – and their business!

Dave and Michelle Radcliffe feel privileged to bring a family owned and operated business to South City. Dave comes to Grocery Outlet after a successful 25 year career with Trader Joe’s. He loves the grocery business and this rare opportunity of being an owner/operator is a dream come true. Michelle spent 20 years in the dental field and understands the need for superior customer service. Two of their children and their spouses also work in the store to help with this venture. The Radcliffe goal is to provide South City with a clean, well merchandised and friendly bargain neighborhood market.

Throughout Dave and Michelle’s 33 year marriage, volunteering has always been a priority. Whether they lived in the bay area or Arizona, they have made a positive contribution to their community. They are passionate about youth sports, Scouts and helping those in need. South City Grocery Outlet has partnered with the St. Vincent DePaul food bank as well as many other local non-profit groups.

Hi, unfortunately this comment brings tears to my eyes. On October 26,2023 approximately 04:00pm. My mom was shopping at Grocery Outlet. She asked the floor association where she could find a certain brand of wine. He was polite and said “he didn’t know “ .
He saw a manager (Africa America woman) passing by as they were speaking and they both asked her. She was not only Rude but Extremely Disrespectful her comment was while they all were in front of the wine department stated “it’s somewhere around here “ and walked away. Not assuming mom I get you assistance.
My mom is an elderly lady with sight impairment and mobility issues. While checking out my mom ask to speak with another manager who is just at fought!
She never got the chance to explain to the other manager what took place due to the fact. the Rude and Obnoxious manager in question started Loud talking, threatening my ( elderly mom) to fight her and cause bodily injury. Which I find totally unacceptable for any employee especially one that works with the public!!!
She continued to yell and say things like I’ve been here since they open this store and you can’t do anything to me pertaining writing her up for her terrible behavior.
My mom weighs about 120lbs. This manager is young and fit it frighten her.
The manager also my a comment about don’t come back to her store all the time following my mom to the check out line and the other manager watching.
Yelling, screaming and shouting at an elderly senior citizen who’s trying to stay as independent for as long as possible.
The Hickey store is the nearest to her due to the fact she doesn’t drive much anymore.
My parents purchased their home 49yrs. ago and are a pillar in their community both retired, Christians and have given back more than I care to share.
Considering the current situation in the world a threat isn’t something you take lightly!!
We applaud hard working, polite and respectful individuals but this has been a NIGHTMARE and I PRAY immediate disciplinary actions be taken.
This incident that occurred on October 26,2023 at the Winston Manor Center Grocery Outlet Store was totally inappropriate and unacceptable.
Question how would YOU feel if this was your mom, dad, sister or brother just going shopping and socializing with their community members?

Thank you

have lives in SSF 40 years, having grown up here and now my daughter is. We spent 5 years away and came back, even in my work life I came back. I love Grocery Outlet. I worked in South San Francisco for the City. Dave you and your family are blessed. SSF is a great place to live and work. Your work with the Food Banks is also outstanding. In the economy sometimes we all need a helping hand. God Bless you.

My family grew up here in SSF. My parents bought their house in l956 in Serra Highlands. That same location/store was Winston Manor Market. We were always there. They even had a 5 & 10 store at the end of the mall area and it had everything from fabric to hardware to Tubes you could purchase for old TV sets. My dad was there all the time and I enjoyed going with him to look at fabric and everything else they had in that store. I am glad they now have Grocery Outlet. They are very friendly and quickly get you packed and ready to go. Nice work new owners.
