SSFPD Media Release: Update – Attempted Murder of a Police Officer (Weapon Recovered)

Early Thursday afternoon, during an extensive search of the area, South San Francisco Police Detectives received information leading to the recovery of the handgun believed to be used by 23-year-old South San Francisco resident Ivan Gomez to shoot at officers. (600 block of First Lane)

 

The San Mateo County Crime Lab assisted South San Francisco Detectives in collecting the suspected weapon along with additional evidence at the scene. The evidence will be processed and the investigation will be ongoing.

 

The South San Francisco Police Department is requesting that anyone with information regarding this incident contact the Criminal Investigations Bureau at 650-877-8910. Witnesses who would like to remain anonymous can call the South San Francisco Police Department Anonymous TIP line at 650-952- 2244.
