Late last evening neighbors in the Sunshine Garden area were awoken to police activity as officers went door to door seeking information on any suspicious activity that they  may have witnessed in the area earlier that evening. “South San Francisco Police knocked on my door around midnight asking if I had heard or seen anything suspicious around10:30 p.m.” one neighbor told us. “The officer said someone was shot and had claimed it happened on Holly near Miller.” Many other neighbors checked in with us via our Facebook page “I’d like to remain anonymous…but there is major police activity in Sunshine Gardens. Do you know what is happening?”

Lieutenant Keith Wall confirmed today that there had in fact been a shooting last evening. “A gunshot victim had been taken to SSF Kaiser Hospital’s emergency department. The information we received stated the victim had been shot while in the area near Holly and Miller Avenues. We investigated the area and did not find anything to support this claim.” Wall said. “We soon found this to be a falsified report and learned the victim had been shot while in the Hunters Point neighborhood in San Francisco. There was no shooting in South San Francisco.”

The victim is reported to have been transferred to San Francisco General where he later died from his wounds. The San Francisco Police are now investigating this homicide.
