Kaiser South San Francisco and Redwood City Recognized with Two Awards by the American Heart Association

Fit-Friendly and Community Innovation Awards recognize efforts to promote health at work and in the community.

Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco and Redwood City Medical Centers have been recognized as a Gold-Level Fit-Friendly Worksites by the American Heart Association for helping employees eat better and move more.
“Physical activity and employee wellness are important priorities at Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco and Redwood City Medical Centers.  We are honored and excited to be recognized by the American Heart Association as a Gold-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite,” said Frank Beirne, Sr. VP and Area Manager, San Mateo. “We’re committed to providing the best workplace environment possible to benefit our employees’ health and produce even more positive results for our worksite overall.”

·        Offer employees physical activity options.

·        Increase healthy eating options.

·        Promote a wellness culture.

·        Implement at least nine criteria outlined by the AHA in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture.

kaiser amaIn addition to the Fit Friendly Award, Kaiser Permanente has been recognized with the AHA’s Community Innovation Award.  As a leading healthcare organization, Kaiser Permanente wanted to reach out beyond its membership to provide its communities with education in heart health, nutrition, stroke prevention in addition to basic health screenings for the those who don’t regularly seek healthcare..
