SSFPD Media Release: Pigeon Drop Scam at 1600 El Camino Real, SSF

On 02/10/2015 at about 10:45 am, an elderly San Francisco resident was the victim of fraud while leaving the Costco parking lot at 1600 El Camino Real in South San Francisco. The victim was approached by two elderly females who showed her a box containing what appeared to be several thousand dollars in cash. During the incident, the victim was told by the suspects that they did not know each other. The suspects advised the victim that they had found the money and would be willing to split it with her if she obtained money of her own as a down payment. The victim agreed and drove to a number of banks with the suspects where she withdrew several thousand dollars of her own money. After receiving the victim’s money, the suspects casually fled the area.

 

The suspects were described as two African American females ranging between 50-70 years old. One of the suspects was between 5’3″-5’4″ tall, heavy set wearing a white tank top, white jacket , black tights and short black hair. The other suspect was described as 5’5″ tall, slender, brown hair, glasses, black leather jacket and a gap between her front teeth. The investigation is continuing.
