South San Francisco, CA March 14, 2015
UPDATE: On Friday July 17, 2015 the Judge sentenced Corsiglia to 33 years and 8 months to life in prison with financial penalties including $9208 to one victim family and $317,749 to the other. An additional $1000 is to be paid to the State Fund for Victims by Corsiglia.
The families of Arnulfo Picazo and Usbaldo Picazo Gomez must continue their wait for justice as the court delayed sentencing of 51 year old Rodney Corsiglia who is responsible for their deaths and was convicted last June with second-degree murder, vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license. The case was delayed Friday when Corsiglia’s competency was questioned by his attorney and the case will now be heard April 24 after a doctors’ report on his competency is completed. Corsiglia could receive two 15 years to life sentences for the murders of Picazo and Gomez when he struck their car from behind which also caused serious injuries to a 9 year old boy and two other adults. Additional sentencing is expected on the other charges. Corsiglia remains in jail.
On July 28, 2012 South San Francisco resident 37 year old Usbaldo Gomez and his cousin, San Bruno resident Arnulfo Picazo, 39 years old, *leaving a family baptism when their car was struck from behind at El Camino Real and Sneath Lane while at the stoplight killing them both instantly. Corsiglia, who had a history of petit mal seizures and had been ordered not to drive by the DMV and his doctors, suffered another seizure which caused the multi car fatal accident. Reports show this was the eighth accident caused by Corsiglia while having a seizure.

Please have some respect for the families. Tell the story how it happend. They were not on the way to a baptism. Arnulfo and Esbaldo had just left the St. BRUNO Church where Melissa and Baldo just baptized their Beutiful baby girl naming Arnulfo as the God father. They were slammed into by a repeat offender who has been in situations like this before but he never killed people. He’s a SCUM BAG. A WAIST OF AIR. YOU MADE THE WRONG CHOICE DOUCHE BAG ….. NOW PAY THE CONSEQUENCE.
Holly,
Thank you for the correction that the families were returning from the baptism and not on their way to the Church.

Why does such sentencing take so long??? My heart breaks for these men, who senselessly lost their lives and to their families. And how was the driver, allowed to continue to drive?? This is sooo horrible….the entire occurrence.
