South San Francisco Unified School District Receives High Marks for Pre-School Program

South San Francisco, CA    March 3, 2015  Submitted by SSFUSD John HorganSSFUSD logo color

According to an analysis provided by San Francisco Quality Connections/West Ed, the South San Francisco Unified School District’s three pre-school classrooms scored above state and national norms in most categories examined.

The three District classrooms were found to be especially strong in providing emotional support and in classroom organization.

The reviewing group noted that a third category, instructional support, was judged to be slightly lower than the other two.

The overall result was a strong endorsement of the District’s pre-school program.

In a letter to District Child Development Director Sheryl Chan, Nimala Dillman of the San Mateo County Office of Education Child Care Partnership Council stated that the pre-school scores were “a tribute to the hours you spend attending professional development with your teachers, observing them, following up with them and building the bridge with transitional kindergarten and kindergarten.”

The SF Quality Connections/West Ed data were reviewed by the District Board of Trustees during its February 26, 2015 meeting.
