It’s official: Candlestick is coming down. Your best memory?

  • Robert Wow, i had to do parking lot security for Landmark Security services
  • Deborah Being there for “The Catch” for the Niners first time to the Super Bowl! Went to that too!
  • Janina Going to Giants games with my dad and throwing peanuts. Also, working the stands (selling peanuts!) at the game opener in 1993.
  • Patricia Seeing a winning effort by the Giants in a 1987 playoff game against the Cardinals, then waiting in traffic for what seemed like hours to get home to South City.

  • Robyn Sitting in our section, watching the 49ers with my Grandfather, Dad, and Son.

  • Jose Sad to see. Like to froze to death on a 4th of July ball game.
  • Christine Football, baseball and concerts. Many good memories and it’s part of the soul of SF. Sad to see an institution like this come down.
  • Renee Worked at Collins electric at the time. They put on all the wiring and I got to go and I had to wear a hard Hat when the construction is going on
  • Muriel Many baseball games there back in the eighties and nineties. sat right behind the owners, never knew this for a while until my friend told me who they were.

  • Patti Seeing Joe Montana, Roger Craig, Jerry Rice, and Dwight Clark all in one game……also, the Paul McCartney “Goodbye to the Stick” concert August 14th, 2015….♡

  • Joe I saw one game there in my life. The Browns defeated the 49ers 14-12 in 2003. Everybody always told me how cold it got at Candlestick, so I brought winter grade clothes. The only problem was there was a heat wave going on with temperatures in the 90s. We sweltered the entire game. LOL!

  • Bonnie Saw the Beatles last concert there. I was 13. Lots of Giants games over the years. I can’t believe it will be gone.
  • Dave Going with Dad to a Dodger game in 1960 sitting 3 rows back on the third base side watching Don Drysdale pitch against Jack Sanford. I saw Mays make a basket catch. The Giants lost. I never attended a Giants game where they won.

  • Nicki My Grandma worked for the Giants when I was younger. We were always at the Giants games and my brothers were bat boys. I have so many memories of Candlestick I’m so sad it’s coming down. Every time I’d drive past it I’d think of her.

  • Vinny Father’s Day 1999 Giants going for the sweep of the Cubs the giant were down three runs and rallied Marvin Benard got the game winning hit the whole stadium went crazy and all fathers and sons got to run the bases and be on the jumbotron

    Driving training in the parking lot. Also getting to go into the locker room with Mike Murphy and his step daughter who was my friend at the time, sitting behind home plate for a few games he blessed me with seeing. So sad it is coming down.

  • Lawrence Saw many Great Giants(Mays,McCovey,Bonds Bonds(both), etc., etc.,. Montana, Rice, Young, Lott, etc, etc.,. Rolling Stones, (jail at Dodger games a few times)…. Nothing wrong with the place, Bring a fucking coat ya sissy’s,catching home runs on a fly over the left field fence, $2.00 GA seats, cutting school and going to the game, rainbow colored hotdogs, stinking drunk on cheap tap warm beer, etc., etc. Big part of Frisco and growing up in it as well. (well, never grew up some might say, what’s your fucking point anyway? ) your probably one of them that needed that coat anyway, right?

  • Rich Wills Mays, Willie Mccovey, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger. Countless Giant and 49er games. It wasn’t pretty but it will be missed.

Memories of going to the Giants games with my Dad and Brothers as a kid.
Also, going to 49er games, and cheering our team on to many wins.
That stadium has a lot of great memories for me, and for San Francisco.
