Hiba Salem, a talented senior wrestler at South San Francisco High School, won a California State Championship in her weight class April 26 during finals competition in Fresno. She was unbeaten in her three 97-pound matches; impressively, all of her wins came on pins. None of her opponents scored a single point against her. Hiba, who is coached by Steve Matteucci at South City, next heads for the USA Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Championships July 19 and 20 in Fargo, North Dakota.
