SSFPD Media Release: Armed robbery on Linden Ave – suspect in custody

On 04-05-’15 at about 0250 hours, a victim was standing outside his residence on the 600 block of Linden Avenue. The victim was approached by a suspect who brandished a handgun and robbed him at gunpoint of his wallet and cash. Officers and Detectives from the South San Francisco Police Department, the San Mateo County Gang Intelligence Unit, and Homeland Security Investigations  all assisted with the investigation of the case. Through diligent work, a suspect, Giovanni Ruiz Avalos was identified. PD report show suspect is employed as a warehouse sorter.

 

On 04-06-15 in the early evening hours, officers conducting a stakeout located and arrested Avalos in South San Francisco without incident. Subsequent to his arrest, a search warrant was served at his residence and evidence from the robbery was located. Avalos was booked at the San Mateo County jail for the following charges: 212.5(c) PC (robbery), l 86.22(a) PC (participate in criminal street gang), 25800(a) PC (carry gun with intent to commit a felony), and 12022.1(b) commit felony while out on bail. Avalos’ bail is currently set at $200,000. Avalos is also currently out on bail ($50,000 each) for two other separate robberies for which he was arrested and is being charged with in San Mateo County.
