SSFPD Media Release: Shooting/Attempt Homicide on the 300 Block of Point San Bruno Blvd

On July 27, 2015 at approximately 10:15 pm, South San Francisco police went to the 300 block of Point San Bruno Boulevard, which is located in the bio technology I industrial area of the city, on the report of an apparent shooting. A subsequent police investigation revealed three San Francisco residents were in a vehicle, in San Francisco, when they were chased into South San Francisco, by another vehicle that was occupied by at least two-three other individuals. The vehicle chase ended when the two vehicles drove into a “dead end” area of the roadway and victims attempted to run away. As the victims were running from their vehicle, a passenger in the suspect vehicle got out and began shooting at them. Several rounds of ammunition were fired at the victims but there was no evidence indicating anyone was struck. The shooter then got back into the suspect vehicle and fled the area. At this time there does not seem to be any connection between the shooting and any of the businesses I bio technology campuses in South San Francisco. There were no injuries reported following the shooting and the investigation is still   on-going.

 

The suspect vehicle was described by witnesses as a newer model silver SUV.

UPDATED PRESS RELEASE as of 2:25 PM:

On July 28, 2015 at approximately 10:35 am, the South San Francisco Police Department was contacted by investigators from the San Francisco Police Department, and were informed the San Francisco police had located a vehicle in the area of Geneva Blvd. and Brookdale Ave., in San Francisco, that may have been connected to the shooting that happened in South San Francisco. South San Francisco investigators responded to San Francisco and confirmed the vehicle located was in fact the vehicle of interest that was occupied by the suspects at the time of the shooting in South San Francisco. The vehicle was then towed from the scene as evidence and a person of interest was taken into custody at that time.

 

The investigation was on-going and at approximately 12:30 pm, the South San Francisco 911 Communications Center, received a call where the reporting party was requesting emergency personnel for a body that was located along the San Francisco Bay water’s edge, near the end of Point San Bruno Boulevard, in South San Francisco. Investigators responded and located a deceased male subject at the base of an approximate 30′ cliff. That subject was identified by family members as being one of the victims that was being chased and shot at by the suspects, the night prior. The cause of death is yet to be determined and the motive for the shooting is still being investigated.

 

At this time the investigation is still on-going and it appears that all persons involved (suspects and victims) are residents of San Francisco and do not have any connection to the area where the shooting took place in South San Francisco. The victims were chased by the suspects from San Francisco to the location of the shooting.

 

The suspects and victims are all African American, male adults, ranging from 21-28 years old.
