Councilmember Normandy:

Thank you for reaching out to me regarding your concerns about construction at the City Ventures construction site (aka the Cuneo property.) I share your concern, and your strong desire to ensure the residents near the site are impacted as little as possible during construction. Chief among your concerns were (1) dust and dirt blowing from the site, and (2) hours of operation.

I have spoken to both the local construction manager and to higher ups in the company. Concerning hours of operation, everyone at City Ventures knows the rules and knows they will be fined by the City for any violation; neighbors have been given a phone number to call in the event of any hours-of-operation violation; and both our police and code enforcement officers know to enforce the time limitations.

Concerning dust and dirt blowing from the site, a water truck is used during the day, but this is apparently not at all effective. I have asked City Ventures to present a new plan to address dirt and dust.

As a result of your inquiry and subsequent efforts, the President of City Ventures has agreed to fly in and meet with me on Thursday. I will drive home during this meeting the absolute necessity that City Ventures be good neighbors and address the two concerns you raised. I will let you know the outcome of this meeting as soon as it is over.

Thank you again for raising this issue. And please let me know if there is anything more I can do on this subject.

Mike
