Possible Shooting Today Chestnut at Oak/ Grand- unofficial report

Around 5pm today Christina Barnett Haas posted this question to our FB “Does anyone have any information about a possible shooting in the area around Chestnut & Grand Ave earlier today?”  ** A neighbor responded with the following from the incident report: ‪”#‎SSFPD‬ looking for 3 subjects in a WHITE Chrysler 300 . Hispanic males shaved head, blk shirts. The vehicle was involved in a shooting at 2 :27 today and rounds possibly hit a structure . San Francisco County also involved in the investigation with San Mateo County.”

Crystal L Rodriguez-Donis shared this photo stating it was what she saw when she came home from work. Chris Vito shared a video on our FB page taken from his dash cam from approximately 7:52pm that shows Chestnut open and a few patrol cars on the side of the road.

ESC will share updated information once a formal report is issued by our Police Department.

 

UPDATE:

While no formal press release has been issued by our Police Department more neighbors are sharing information on increase police activity in the area of Chestnut/Oak/Grand/Willow on Thursday and into Saturday.

Included in reports are Jose Mora’s photo of PD searching a car on Grand Ave and Willow near the Court House prior to having it towed away. Debbie Wydler, a resident in the area said “Action on Commercial Daly Ct Oak and Chestnut -Serious action. Probably has something to do with the possible shooting yesterday?”

Around noon on Friday August 7th Laura Servetti-Lewis‎ posted this on our FB page: “I just came up Chestnut police blocked off street at Commercial and a Chestnut police looking for someone” The replies that followed:

Crystal L Rodriguez-Donis “There were quit a few cops on Willow and Grand as well”

Debbie Wydler “Commercial and Oak too- guns drawn!”

Nicole Guerra added “At Old Mission Road and Chestnut..”

ESC received a video showing officers on foot with guns in hands walking through the area as if searching for something or someone.

Around 2am on Saturday August 8th Marie Vasquez posted this question “Did any one else hear gunshots by Grand Ave?” to which Charles Esqueda/ Josie replied “Yes on Maple.” and Nancy Carrillo saidRight??? Were there gun shots or fireworks… lol. I was half asleep but I heard a lot of them”. ESC also received 3 other inquiries concerning what they thought were gun shots yet we do not have any confirming information.

The above comments are from our neighbors and there is speculation this is an ongoing investigation. Once ESC receives a formal release it will be shared on our website and social media.

UPDATE

The South San Francisco Police Department have put out a formal report which can be found CLICK HERE.

The suspect, Daly City resident Jose Antonio Nava, has affiliation with a known criminal street gang and has been taken into custody. The injured victim was treated for gun shot wound to the head.
