The South San Francisco Unified School District Board of Trustees conducted a workshop on Saturday, Aug. 29, involving goals, protocols and communication matters, among other issues. Key aims of the public session at District Headquarters were to clarify and confirm a variety of Board practices and procedures related to the overall operation of the District and to continue to improve its culture and climate. Areas of emphasis included:
• The preferred mechanism for handling constituents’ complaints.
• The proper use of electronic media (email, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.).
• The Board’s relationship with key District personnel, including the superintendent, principals, teachers, classified staff and other employees.
• The adherence to the open-meeting mandates of the Brown Act.
• The proper use of the District chain of command.
• The protocols involved in handling requests from the news media.
• The expectations that Board Members have for one another.
• The procedures involved in meetings of the Trustees.
