California Smarter Balanced Assessment System Reports Low Marks for SSF Schools in English & Math

The State of California’s Smarter Balanced Assessment System report shows SSFUSD dismal results when students in the grades 3 through 8, and 11th, were tested last spring. This test replaces the ‘STAR’ exams.

Our students placed at 50% having met and 49% not having met the criteria in English. Math scores show only 42% of our students having met the standards with 58% of them not reaching that level.

The San Jose Mercury News published an article written by Sharon Noguchi ‘California’s School test scores reveal vast racial achievement gap’.

“While 72 percent of Asian students and 61 percent of white students statewide met or exceeded standards in English, only 32 percent of Latino students and 28 percent of African-American students matched that achievement.” Noguchi reports. To read the full article PLEASE CLICK HERE
