The South San Francisco Unified School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent spent much of the day, Saturday, Oct. 24, participating in a workshop conducted by the California School Boards Association.
The key purposes of the workshop at the District Office were: Determining a unity of purpose; respecting working styles; reaching a common understanding of Trustee roles and responsibilities; identifying norms for sustaining a positive governance culture; and reviewing the evaluation process for the Superintendent.
The in-depth session was the latest in a series of comprehensive meetings designed to foster teamwork and a collegial atmosphere among District administrative leaders and policy-makers. The public gatherings have been held during a period of important change in the District’s top leadership positions.
Three of the five members of the Board _ Rosa Acosta, Patrick Lucy and Rick Ochsenhirt _ are relatively new to their governing posts. Superintendent Dr. Shawnterra Moore was appointed to her position this past summer.
All three of her Assistant Superintendents _ Leticia Bhatia, Michael Krause and Jay Spaulding _ were named to their jobs earlier this year as well.
