Do you know anyone looking for a housemate or renter, or trying to rent out a room in their home? HIP Housing’s non-profit Home Sharing program can help make that a safe, comfortable process. HIP Housing has given free, long-term support to those who need it most in San Mateo County for 42 years. This is especially important now, as our county has become one of the most expensive areas to live in within the United States. NEW: With support from the City of Fremont, HIP Housing’s Home sharing program was launched in Fremont on August 1st. The program will serve persons who have a room to rent who live in Fremont, Newark and Union City and persons who are seeking housing who currently live or work in Fremont. A Frequently Asked Questions flyer about the program is shared at the bottom of this article.

Daly City: Furnished or unfurnished bedroom in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house in a quiet neighborhood. Rent is $400 a month with   a

$400 deposit. Provider is a senior female who likes reading and family activities. There are laundry facilities, street parking, shared utilities, and it is near public transportation.     Non-smoking, no pets.

South San Francisco: Furnished bedroom in 3 bedroom, 2 bath home to rent for $725 a month with a $350 deposit. Laundry facilities, parking and near transportation. No smoking and there is one cat and sometimes a feral cat but no more pets are allowed. The owner is an active senior female who is looking for someone who has a sense of humor, is spiritual, and goal oriented.

San Bruno: Furnished bedroom in 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath home to rent for $800 a month with a $350 deposit. Street parking, and near public transportation, SFO, the police station, and shopping. No smoking or pets are allowed. The owner is seeking a female tenant who is kind, honest, calm, humble, compassionate, and responsible.

Millbrae: A 1 bedroom, 1 bath furnished in-law unit available to rent for $1500 a month with a deposit of $1500. This is a lovely, quiet, upscale unit next to a gorgeous private backyard. It is walking distance to shopping. The utilities are shared at $250 a month, there are laundry facilities, street parking and near public transportation, a separate entrance, a private bath. No smoking or pets. The tenant should be quiet, respectful, conscientious.

San Mateo: Furnished bedroom to rent in a 3 bedroom, 1 bath home in a quiet neighborhood for $1000 a month with a $500 deposit. Utilities are shared at $50 a month and up, depending on usage. Street parking and near public transportation. No smoking or pets allowed. Owner is seeking a single female who is clean and neat, quiet, working, and spends time away from the home. The owner is very spiritual and chants every day. She works a lot and spends time with her two children.

San Mateo: Unfurnished bedroom for rent in a 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath home in a quiet neighborhood for $750 a month for a $400 deposit. The bedroom has shelving and a half bath, space for furniture, storage, laundry facilities, off street parking, and nearby public transportation. No smoking or pets. Service exchange, such as errands, some driving, and some chores is desirable. The owner, an active retired senior, is seeking a single female who is neat, helpful and considerate.

Belmont: Living room space in 1 BR, 1 bath apartment for $650 a month with $250 deposit. Utilities shared, kitchen and laundry use. Street parking and near public transportation, walking distance to stores. No smoking or pets. Active female is looking for someone who works or attends school.

Redwood City: Unfurnished bedroom in 2 BR 2 bath apartment in a calm apartment complex for $800 a month with $200 deposit. Utilities inc., kitchen and laundry available. No smoking, pets or overnight guests.. Street parking and near public transportation and stores.

East Palo Alto: Furnished or unfurnished bedroom for rent in 2 Br, 1 bathroom house for $700 a month with $400 deposit. Separate entrance, kitchen use, laundry and storage available. No smoking. Has several small dogs, but no more pets allowed.
