Costco Business Center Seeking Home at old Levitz Building

South San Francisco, CA              December 1, 2015    Jaime González contributed to this write up

The South San Francisco Planning Commission is set to vote on the signage of the proposed new use for the existing Levitz Building located at 900 Dubuque off of Oyster Point Blvd this upcoming Thursday evening, December 3rd. The property is owed by Home Depot who was expected to move into this facility around the same time Lowe’s moved in down the street. The facility will undergo renovation which will change this existing 156,660 SF building to 111,141 SF, removing southern footage and increasing the facility on the eastern side on this 7.62 acre lot.  At one time this facility also was home to an Office Max which reinforces the area’s need for this type of business.

The City identifies most of the customers will come from small to medium size local businesses although any Costco member is allowed to shop there as well. Per the staff report ‘Costco Business Center offers over 4,000 products for sale, including bulk food and beverages, office supplies, cleaning supplies, business electronics, and restaurant and catering supplies.

A Costco Business Center does not include membership services or products available at a core Costco, such as a bakery, fuel sales, home improvement services, optical exams and sales, pharmacy, photo services, and tire sales.’

The Planning Commission Meeting starts at 7pm at the MSB 33 Arroyo Drive, SSF and can also be viewed on the City website CLICK HERE

Costco continues to be a good neighbor and is a Blue company with good paying jobs, a big plus for the community. A giant Welcome to my favorite store.

The only other Costco Business Center I know of is in Hayward. I think it is a good idea with all the Biotech and other Businesses on the Peninsula.
