Patrick Lucy is the new President of the South San Francisco Unified School District Board of Trustees. He was elected to the post, which he will fill for the next year, by a unanimous vote of the Board on Dec. 10. He takes over the President’s seat from Judy Bush. The new Vice President is Rosa Acosta; Ms. Bush is the new Clerk. After assuming the Board’s leadership role, Mr. Lucy noted that his focus has always been “students first.” He added that the Board “will continue its team-building” and an emphasis on raising standards. “Now,” he said, “we have to buckle down and do it.”

The Board is operating with just three members at this time because of the recent death of Rick Ochsenhirt and the November election of Maurice Goodman to the San Mateo County Community College Board of Trustees. The three South San Francisco Trustees are preparing to make provisional appointments in January to fill the two vacant Board seats until the November 2016 general election. The Dec. 10 Board meeting was adjourned in the memory of Mr. Ochsenhirt.
