The Cartoon Art Museum Visits SSFPL
Thursday, February 11th, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.
Join us for an evening with Andrew Farrago, the curator of the Cartoon Art Museum. He’ll be sharing some highlights of the museum‘s collection with us and talking about the museum’s history as well as its future.
The Cartoon Art Museum is a celebration of cartoon art in all its various forms from comic books, to editorial cartoons, anime, and more. The museum just celebrated its 30th anniversary and though it is temporarily closed while it looks to move into a new space, you can learn about its mission and collection through its various offsite programs such as this one.

Join us for a special Day of Remembrance conversation with Councilmember Karyl Matsumoto, who will share her personal experience at Manzanar. Day of Remembrance commemorates the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II and serves as an important reminder of the precious nature of our civil liberties. Councilmember Matsumoto was first elected to the City Council in November 1997 and has lived in South San Francisco for 35 years. She has served on or been a member of over 30 civic and nonprofit boards, commissions and committees.

The Lunchtime Knitting program has been expanded! Knitters of all levels are welcome to bring their projects and enjoy chatting with the group. Swap tips, share techniques and enjoy tea and biscuits.
Experienced staff will be on hand to help get you started or answer any knitting questions you might have. Please bring a knitting project to work on. For beginners, limited supplies of yarn are on hand but please provide your own needles, size 7 or 8. If you wish to bring your own yarn we recommend worsted weight, lighter colored yarn.

Knit & Crochet at the Library Monday, February 8th, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.
Knitters and crocheters of all levels are welcome to join us at the library for an informal knitting and crocheting circle. Bring your friends to learn about helpful library resources, meet fellow crafters, work on ongoing projects, or learn about the basics of knitting or crocheting. If you are just getting started with knitting or crocheting, the library will have a limited amount of yarn on hand for this program. Please bring your own knitting needles or crochet hooks.

In connection with our LibLab MakerSpace we are pleased to share this great new resource that includes five Singer 7258 Stylist award-winning 100-Stitch computerized sewing machines, a Brother 400 embroidery machine, and a Brother 1034D 4 thread serger.

All Ages LibLab MakerSpace
The South San Francisco Public Library will be hosting all ages MakerSpace sessions on the 3rd Saturday of every month. Our MakerSpace and technology learning center will provide the community with the use of a wide range of creative software, 3D printers, a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine, sewing and embroidery machines, robots, and more.
Equipment is also available during our open MakerSpace hours or by reservation most weekdays, Monday through Friday, 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. The equipment is free to use and can be reserved at bit.ly/SSFmaker.
