SSFPD & SSFUSD Joint Media Release: Alleged School Threat

South San Francisco, CA    February 24, 2016 Submitted by SSFPD & John Horgan SSFUSD

The South San Francisco Police Department and the South San Francisco Unified School District are currently investigating information received in an anonymous letter reporting alleged threats made against students and staff at South San Francisco High School and El Camino High School.  The author of the letter expressed concern and wanted to make officials aware of the possible threats to the campuses.    Although the validity of the threats has not been confirmed, this information is being disseminated to the community in order to heighten awareness of suspicious activity at either campus.   As a precaution, extra security measures are being put in place for the remainder of the week to address the safety of the student body, but both campuses will remain open.  Although school will be in session, parents will be permitted to keep their children at home if desired, but must notify the school office of the absence, which will be excused. Anyone with information related this investigation is encouraged to call the South San Francisco Police Department at 650-877-8900 or the anonymous TIP line at 650-952-2244.
