Former El Camino High Star Michael Smith Named MVP of PacWest Conference

Michael Smith, an El Camino High School alum, has been named the Most Valuable Player in the PacWest Conference for the 2015-16 basketball season. Smith, who plays for Cal Baptist University, averaged 20.6 points per game during the regular season, leading the league in scoring. Cal Baptist tied for the league championship and won the PacWest tournament, defeating Azusa Pacific, 101-64. Smith was named MVP of the tournament.  With an overall 24-6 record, Cal Baptist, a Christian, liberal arts school located in Riverside, has advanced to NCAA II regional action.
