Dear friends, family and those looking to make a difference,
I created this page in hopes of gaining your support for my near future endeavors.
Recently, I decided to uproot my life by moving and traveling abroad to volunteer begining Feburary 2017. I will be starting my volunteering off in Morocco, will be making my way around Europe and SE Asia, with a home base in Italy where I will be doing homestays. Each destination has been carefully selected and serves as a learning lesson which hopefully creates a major impact in both their lives and mine. In my recent travel, I had the opportunity to visit Nicaragua; the 2nd poorest country in all of South, Central and North America. I was fortunate enough to immerse myself in their culture, interact with locals, and learn a different way of life. 80% of homes don’t have running water, half of the locals don’t own shoes, and starved animals run rampant. I caught myself leaving very large tips, stepping into situations to be of any kind of assistance, buying food for the strays, or just simply passing along a smile. I gained a sense of gratitude and appreciation, an experience everyone should have. However, most of us cannot seem to find it in ourselves to leave our lives, families, belongings and careers behind. Well, I decided to take that leap of faith but I need help.
I have selected to volunteer with a well known program, IVQH. Each volunteer program costs on average $700.00 – $1000.00 EACH. The above amount doesn’t cover flights or transportation, visas, or vaccinations. Lasting from 2-3 weeks each, it does include housing with a local family (“rent” is paid to a local family) or bunk housing with fellow volunteers within the community, 3 meals a day cooked by a local (providing jobs and supporting local farming), tools and supplies needed to complete tasks (see below for further), 24/7 in-country emergency assistance, and supervision/education within your assigned task.
Your dontations will also provide proper care and medicine to those with special needs, adoption and foster care costs for abandoned children, animal care rehabilitation, food collection and distribution, and farming/environment improvement supplies.
Although I have been saving for years, I still don’t have enough to fund this endevour. My fundraising goal for volunteering is $10,000. I will be hosting a spaghetti feed with a silent auction August 6th from 4-8pm at the Pacifica Moose Lodge and I am currently selling my photos at the Fog City Java Cafe (540 Crespi, Pacifica 94080) from July 1st – 31st. Any donations and or purchases would be greatly appreciated.

About Remy:
Here’s a tid bit on me: I am a 20 yo female. I was on my own at 16. I was (semi) recently diagnosed with SLE Lupus. I recently gave a 6 months notice of quitting my 911 dispatcher position. I love to travel & I love to help people. I love me some finger-licking scrumptious food. Coffee with a view is a must. Sarcasm is spoken as a second language. I’m craving good vibes and memories to last a lifetime. I am selling my belongings, packing ONE bag and moving over seas to volunteer with IVQH.
