Alta Loma Middle School (ALMS) After School Program will Transition to the Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County
Two years ago at the request of community members and the SSFUSD Board of Trustees, the Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County (B&GC) established an after school program at Alta Loma Middle School (ALMS). This pilot project was designed to meet current needs at ALMS. We are grateful for this opportunity, and for parent, Maria Vasquez in making this program happen.
Over the course of the last two years, it has been a collaborative effort between SSFUSD and B&GC to find ways to financially sustain this program. Unfortunately, we are unable to continue the program as it currently exists. Therefore, the program will not remain onsite at ALMS effective this upcoming school year. As an alternative, the Boys and Girls Club Staff are prepared to serve our ALMS families through their Teen Program, based at the Orange Park Clubhouse located at 201 W. Orange Avenue. Both the B&GC and SSFUSD firmly believe that ALMS students and parents have after school youth development programs as an option with which to participate. Both organizations remain committed to ensuring students have a place to attend for quality after school programs. Our commitment to serving the ALMS community has not changed. We are so excited and look forward to working together and providing the best possible out of school time programming for South San Francisco Unified School District middle schoolers at the Orange Park Clubhouse.
We are working through the details with B & G Club and SSFUSD is considering an option to provide financial assistance for transportation from ALMS to the Orange Park Clubhouse. We look forward to our continued partnership with B&G Club, students, and families.
