NOTE: Once again this year South San Francisco is participating in the annual Coastal & Bay Cleanup at Colma Creek, under the direction of SSF Park Manager Samantha Haimovitch. See below for more info on our specific event.

Coastal Cleanup Day (CCD) is an annual waterway and land cleanup held on the third Saturday of September. It’s California’s largest volunteer event and brings community awareness to cleaning up and protecting our marine environment.

San Mateo County coordinates CCD in conjunction with the California Coastal Commission, Ocean Conservancy, and many statewide and local partners.

Cleanups are held all over San Mateo County at beaches, creeks, waterways, parks and neighborhoods and they’re family-friendly events!

When: Saturday, September 17, 2016, 9 am – noon.

Prepare for the event

Most sites are on a “drop-in” basis and you can register the day of the clean up. Some sites require you to pre-register below. If you’re a large group, be sure to contact the Site Captain first!
Waiver Forms – Everyone who joins us for Coastal Cleanup Day is required to sign a waiver form. There will be waiver forms at each cleanup location, but you can print, sign and bring the following waiver form with you day of event (your check in will be faster). All volunteers under the age of 18 must have the waiver form signed by a parent or legal guardian before participating in a cleanup.
Waiver forms available in English UPDATE LINK
What to Bring/Wear – Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and bring sunscreen or a hat. Bring your own buckets, gloves and reusable water bottle to help reduce our overall footprint at the event.
What to Expect Day Of:
Don’t forget to sign in at the sign up table. This is where you bring your signed waiver or one will be provided during the sign in process.
Get your supplies unless you’ve brought your own. Gloves and bags will be available at each site.
Listen to the orientation and safety talk before you head off.
And have fun!
