ESC GAME ON – Holiday Champagne Reception & Boutique at Plymire-Schwartz House hosted by SSF Historical Society

In our October GAME ON contest we asked our readers to share a South City historical moment, be that City related (i.e. Day in the Park, Sign Hill, etc) or a personal experience.  We are pleased to announce the winner to our GAME ON contest AVA MARIE ROMERO who will be receiving TWO tickets to the annual Champagne Reception & Holiday Boutique at the Plymire-Schwartz House hosted by the Historical Society of South San Francisco. Cathy Salazar shares her story “I remember when buri buri park ball field was completed and my son played his first little league game there. Spent a lot of time on those bleachers.”

 

Kathy Altizio Tetreault shares  My historical moment is about my husband's great grandparents, who opened Jennings Pharmacy on Grand Avenue back in 1917 I believe. They were among the first families to settle in SSF. His grandma Frances also became a pharmacist and his great aunt Agnes became an ob-gyn. He worked at the pharmacy as well, delivering prescriptions. The pharmacy closed in the '70's.

Tickets to this annual event can be purchased at the door during the Event on Saturday November 5th, 1pm – 4pm. The Plymire-Schwartz House is located at 519 Grand Avenue and will be decked out in full holiday decorations from yesteryear. This is a great event, please join us!
