SSFPD Media Release: Centennial Trail Strong Arm Robbery

South San Francisco, CA   January 31, 2017   Submitted by SSFPD  

On Tuesday, January 31st at approximately 7:50 a.m., a South San Francisco resident was walking on the Centennial Trail near the 1100 block of Mission Road.  Three unknown male suspects approached him from behind and grabbed his cell phone.  The suspects fled on foot towards Mission Road.

 

The three suspects were described as the following:

 

  • Hispanic male adult, approximately 18-25 years of age, approximately 5’6” tall, 120-130 lbs. with short brown hair. The suspect was wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt with a red design on the back.

 

  • African American male adult, approximately 18-25 years of age approximately 5’6” tall and 120-130 lbs. The suspect wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt.

 

  • Male adult (unknown race and age), approximately 5’6” tall and 120-130 lbs. The suspect was wearing a black hoodie.

How do we prevent crimes like this from happening?

What is the answer?

More cameras?

Constant police foot patrol, walking both ways? And then.. Uniformed or under cover decoys?

How about The City of South San Francisco provide citizens with a Walking Buddy link, so we can hook up with someone else to take walks with (as a pair or as a group).. because there is a much higher degree of safety in numbers.
