Get Moving! Take a Hike with Physicians from Kaiser Permanente

Free Hiking Program Open to the Public

Kaiser Permanente invites residents to join physicians, San Mateo County Park Rangers and docents on a series of monthly hikes combining exercise and information about park features and natural history. Dr. Latifat Apatira and Dr. Rachna Rekhi from Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco will join the first hike on April 1st and give a presentation on plant-based diets to promote healthy eating, followed by a demonstration of stretching exercises.

Kaiser Permanente physicians will join each of the hikes throughout the year and share information on a variety of health related topics. Take A Hike is a member of the Healthy Parks, Healthy People Bay Area collaborative of Bay Area park agencies, which encourages Bay Area residents to explore parks while improving their mental and physical health.

All hikes take place on the first Saturday of each month, April through November. The first dates are April 1 at Huddart Park in Woodside, and May 6 at Sawyer Camp trail near Hillsborough.Take A Hike begins at 9am at the designated start location—look for the Take A Hike signs. Some parks charge a parking fee. Let the attendant know you are there for the “Take a hike” program and the parking fee will be waived. Plan to arrive at the park’s designated start location by 9:00 a.m. Hikes will begin following the physician presentations and a warm up exercise.
