SSFUSD Music Director Russ Ferreria Set to Retire; Last Concert May 10th

South San Francisco, CA May 9, 2017

Tomorrow will mark the final concert that Music Director Russ Ferreria will lead as he sets to retire at the end of this year among much sadness from students, parents, alumni and the community at large. Please help get the word out for tomorrow’s Spring Concert to be held at Alta Loma School, 116 Romney Drive. The Concert will include Buri Buri Band, Junipero Serra Band and the Ponderosa Band in addition to Alta Loma Band. This event promises to be monumental and we highly encourage everyone to attend.

“Calling all Alta Loma Band Alumni- Wed May 10 is the Annual Spring Concert. The concert includes Beginning, Intermediate, Advance & Jazz bands. Also Ponderosa, Buri Buri & Junipero Serra Elementary schools. At the end the Alumni is invited to join on stage, Russ Ferreria is retiring at the end of the school year, it would be great if alum showed up to show him some love?? “wrote Diana Corcoran as she shared the above flyer on our Facebook page.

More comments of appreciation continued to flow when Joy Denia shared this photo last week ‘Nothing like a beautiful day enjoying the sweet sound of the Alta Loma Middle School Band. Mr. Ferreira is truly the best!!!’ when the group was entertaining in San Francisco’s iconic Union Square.

Laurie He is such an incredible teacher. My son learned so much from him and still plays sax now for El Camino. He definitely is truly the best.

Marilyn Love their Spring concerts he has for them. I miss them! And he will be truly missed!!! It would be so cool to get some of his former and current students together to bid him farewell on his new journey.
