On Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:29 PM, officers responded to the intersection of South Spruce Avenue at North Canal Street in South San Francisco on the report of a hit and run collision. Investigators determined that the subject who caused the collision fled the scene. Further investigation revealed that the driver of the second vehicle was injured. The injured driver was evaluated at the scene by paramedics. While officers were still at the collision location, South San Francisco resident Jeremias Pirir-Ayapan returned to the scene and was determined to be the responsible driver. Pirir-Ayapan was also determined to be under the influence of alcohol. Pirir-Ayapan was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for Driving Under the Influence and felony hit and run.
