South San Francisco, CA August 12, 2017
Our deepest sympathies go out to the Seubert family upon the passing of matriarch Betty Ruth Seubert on Tuesday. The Seubert family has given so much to #SSF; Betty was named South San Francisco Citizen of the Year in 1978 and her husband Al was dedicated to Sign Hill which to this day carry his name as locations on the trails and groves.
They maybe gone but their legacy will continue, our City is better for having them as our great neighbors. RIP
Betty’s Obituary as printed in the San Mateo Daily Journal
Betty Ruth Seubert died Aug. 8, 2017, in Burlingame at the age of 94.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alphonse and sisters Jane and Eleanor. She is survived by her sister Virginia, children Jim (Sue), Mary, Ed (Donna), Pete (Kimberly), Eric (Kate); and six grandchildren.
Betty was born in 1923 in Spokane, Washington. She moved to Oakland in 1941. In 1945, she met her future husband Al, who was returning to the states after spending three years as a prisoner of war in the Philippines. They were married in 1946 and enjoyed a wonderful marriage for the next 59 years. She was a kind, wise and loving mother.
Betty was active in many organizations, donating her energy and talent for four decades to the local community. She was named South San Francisco Citizen of the Year in 1978.
Always a stickler for proper grammar, her last words were, “I am not done, but I am finished.”
At her request, no services will be held. For those looking for a meaningful way to mark her passing she has asked that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at jdrf.org/donate.
